Beechgrove Selected as Finalist in National Care Home Awards
12th December 2012
Staff and residents of Beechgrove Care Home were proud to receive a nomination for a Scottish Care National Care Home Award 2012. Beechgrove Care Home, on Carstairs Road, Lanarkshire was recently selected as a finalist for the Care Home Design Award. Managers were delighted to attend the award ceremony which took place at the Hilton Hotel Glasgow on 23rd November 2012.
After opening in 2006, Beechgrove Care Home has provided nursing care for elderly residents with a number of care requirements including those with physical disabilities, those who are terminally ill and those with high dependency needs.
This year, Beechgrove Care Home underwent an extensive revamp process to update its facilities and services. The Care Home opened a 25 bed extension as well as going through an impressive refurbishment programme.
The renovation involved the updating interior decorations and furniture, including the addition of new leather chairs as well as the installation of a bar area to allow residents to relax in comfort and style. Beechgrove Care Home now offers a number of entertainment options for its residents, including a brand new cinema room where films are shown 4 times a week, outdoor putting green and a wide range of books within its new library area.
Jean Mackie, Manager of Beechgrove Care Home said:
“The team and I were thrilled to have been nominated for a Scottish Care National Care Award; the refurbishment took a lot of hard work so it is great to have our efforts recognised. Our main aim when planning the redesign was to improve the quality of life of our residents. We asked them what changes they’d like to see at Beechgrove and based our plans on their feedback; I think they’d agree that it has been a great success.
It’s a real shame we didn’t win this time but it’s brilliant just to have been nominated and a great accolade to our Home and staff.”
